General Race Information

Q. When is the Race?
   A. The Race will be held on October 28, 2017. The 10k race begins at 8:00am, the 5k race begin at 9:00am, and the 1 mile walk begins at 9:15am.

Q. Where is the Race?
   A. The Race will be held in Maryland Farms in Brentwood, TN. 

Q. How much is the registration fee?

Earlybird Registration (April 1st - May 31st):

  Survivors - $20

Youth (Ages 5-15) - $20

Timing chips are an additional $10. Dog registration is an additional $10. 

Q. Is my registration fee tax-deductible?
   A. No, your registration fee helps defray the costs of producing the Race and is not considered tax-deductible. However, any amount that you choose to donate above the entry fee is tax-deductible. 

Q. What is included in the registration fee?
   A. You will get a Race number, a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® t-shirt, and a great feeling!

Q. How can I register?
   A. You can register online by clicking here. You can also register offline by downloading this form and mailing to the address below: 4009 Hillsboro Pike, Suite 209, Nashville, TN 37215

Q. How will I receive my Race packet including t-shirt?
   A. Everyone who registers for the Race by October 12th will recieve their Race packet and t-shirt in the mail the first few weeks of October.  Everyone who registers AFTER October 12th can pick up their packet during the week of the race at the times and locations listed on the Registration Packet page

Q. How long is the Race?
   A. The Race is either a 10K or a 5K route, which is approximately 6.2 miles and 3.1 miles. There is also a shorter route option (approximately 1 mile). You may choose to walk or run any route. Please note that there will be a time limit on the 10k. If you are unable to walk or run, you can still register and join us on Race day. We are always looking for people to cheer on our runners and walkers.

Q. How can I become a volunteer?
A. The success of the Komen Greater Nashville Race depends heavily on the support we receive from our volunteers in the months leading up to the Race and on Race Day. There are many ways you can get involved, for more information, click here.

Q. Are pet and strollers allowed at the event?
   A. Dogs and strollers are permitted.  You must register your dog ($10 fee) when you register yourself for the race. See below for Paws for the Cure FAQ's.

Q. What if it rains?
   A. Komen holds the right to cancel or change the date or location of the Race in its sole discretion, including in the circumstance of extreme weather. It is likely, however, that the event will happen rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.

Fundraising FAQ

Q. Does the Komen Race for the Cure® require fundraising?
   A. You are not required to fundraise, but we do encourage all participants to fundraise above the entry fee. Just Imagine the IMPACT - If every Race participant raises just $100 in addition to their registration fee, we would bring in an additional $500,000 to support local screening, treatment and educational programs in our community!

Q. Does the money raised stay right here in our community?
   A. Yes! Up to seventy-five percent of the net income from the Race stays right here in our community to fund vital breast cancer health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs.
The remaining twenty-five percent supports Komen’s national research and training grants program

Q. Where do I send donations?
   A. Donation can be drop off or mailed to our office 4009 Hillsboro Pike Suite 209 Nashville, TN 37215. 
For donations on behalf of an individual participant or a team, please include that information with your check.

Q. Is there a deadline for fundraising?
   A. All donations on your behalf that are received by November 10, 2017 will be credited to your fundraising total.

Q. When will I receive my fundraising incentives?
   A. Your fundraising incentives are calculated based on the total fundraising dollars you have collected. Incentives are mailed after the close of our Race fundraising season, and you can expect to receive your prize sometime in November. Prizes are not cumulative.

Q. What are some ways I can fundraise for my team/my individual goal?

TEAM FAQ

Q. How do I form a team?
   A. To be considered an official team, you will need 10 or more registered members by the morning of the Race. You can form a team or join a team online. For more information, contact us at 615-383-0017 or info@komencentraltennessee.org.

Q. What are the benefits of a team?
A. Forming or joining a team multiplies the fun you will have on Race day. You can create a team to celebrate a survivor or honor someone you have lost. You can also create a corporate team and get your entire company involved. To learn more check out the Team Rewards page.

Q. Do teams have to fundraise?
   A. Teams are not required to fundraise but we strongly encourage fundraising. Fundraising as a team can be fun. Click here to get a list of fundraising events your team can do.

Q. One of my team members registered as an individual when they meant to join my team. How do they correct this?
   A. Please contact us at info@komencentraltennessee.org to get this corrected.

Q. Will there be an area for my team to meet-up on Race day?
   A. Your team can join with others near the finish line for team tailgating.  The Top 10 teams with the highest amount of fundraising will receive reserved access to this special area with Komen provided tent, table, chairs, cooler full of water, and 10 parking passes for the lot adjacent to the tailgating area. Fundraising includes the amount raised over and above registration fees.  Totals will be tallied at midnight Sunday, October 22nd and announced Monday the 23rd. Any remaining free space is available for additional teams to set up their own tailgating area. You can come early or the night before to decorate your tent area if you’d like.

PAWS FOR THE CURE FAQ

Q. How many dogs may I register?
A. Each adult walker is permitted one registered (1) dog at the event. Any Race participant who wishes to register a dog at the event must register as an adult. Bandannas and bibs for Paws for the Cure participants may be picked up at the dog park in front of the YMCA.

Q. Are there any limits on dog size in the Paws for the Cure event?
A. Please only register dogs 50lbs or less

Q. Are there any restrictions on leashing my dog?
A. Your dog must be leashed and under your power at all times. Leashes must be no longer than 6 feet.

Q. What else should I know if I want to register my dog for Paws for the Cure?
A. To make the event as pleasant as possible for all participants involved (both human and canine), we ask that you follow a few basic guidelines when deciding whether to register your dog for Paws for the Cause.

  • Do not register a female dog in heat.
  • Your dog must be current on all its vaccinations
  • Dogs exhibiting aggressive behavior toward other dogs or strangers will be excluded from the event.
  • Please clean up after your dog.
